Alison Fahie

Hi there, I'm Alison and I'm so grateful you're here!

I'm a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College for Counselling Therapists and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I'm truly honoured to hold the title of Counselling Therapist and to have the unique opportunity of growing & evolving alongside my clients. Each person I work with has a profound impact on me and I feel so privileged to walk alongside you on your journey.

Prior to pursuing a career in psychotherapy, I worked with children and youth while teaching English as a second language which is where I gained experience and interest in supporting children in their growth and development. I also worked in HR and recruitment where I developed a passion for supporting people one on one through stressful & difficult life transitions.

In my work with clients, I incorporate practices from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy but most of my work is done in an integrative way. We will work collaboratively to find the most effective approach for you so I can help you navigate what your experiencing to promote a sense of deeper ease, balance and well-being.

My belief is that my clients are the experts of their own lives, so while I may facilitate the conversation - YOU are my guide. From a client-centered, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed lens, I strive to create an atmosphere of safety, trust & inclusivity for clients. Every part of you is welcome, valued, and respected, no matter what. I deeply value your identity and lived experiences. I'm dedicated to providing a compassionate, supportive space where you can heal, grow, and show up as your authentic self while navigating the complexities of your unique journey as we foster healing, resilience, and personal growth together.

In my work with children, I incorporate play therapy with a mindfulness and polyvagal-centered approach. This means that while we're using play to connect and build trust with your child; mindfulness, emotional literacy, and nervous system regulation techniques will also be integral to our time together.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that true well-being encompasses a holistic approach that considers your whole self, where we connect the dots between stress, the nervous system and the intricate interplay between mind, body, and soul.

When I'm not being a therapist, I can usually be found on a long walk in nature. I also enjoy yoga, reading, writing, crafting, and spending time with those I love.

If you've been feeling disconnected from yourself, someone else, or the world around you in general, know that you don't have to navigate that alone.

Look forward to connecting with you.

With gratitude,

Alison
